Life drawing can be a challenging experience at first but once the initial nerves disappear, you are able to adapt to mastering the skill of observation. Drawing from life can improve the understanding of the human form in relation to scale, proportion and perspective. Once you get a grasp of these skills, they can be applied to any piece of drawing work you produce.
I was lucky enough to be offered the opportunity of completing a block of life drawing classes, as part of my sixth year curriculum when I was at school. The class was offered to all students studying Advanced Higher Art and Design and A-Level Art. Each week we were presented with a new material to use and understand before creating our drawings.
